Internal Family Systems Therapy

I am currently training in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Internal Family Systems is a strengths-based approach to self exploration. IFS views strong emotions, patterns of behavior and dominating thoughts as “parts” that aim to protect the Self in response to trauma or life stressors. IFS therapy engages patients in exploring, understanding, and compassionately communicating with these parts. In my clinical work, I primarily utilize the IFS framework.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced-based practice for treating a variety of mental disorders including anxiety disorders, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. CBT examines the dynamic relationship between thoughts, feeling, and behaviors. CBT provides a variety of structured interventions to assist client with identifying maladaptive patterns of thought, so as to make negative emotions less overwhelming and to catalyze sustainable behavior change.

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

SSP is a ground-breaking intervention developed by renowned scientist and author of Polyvagal Theory, Dr. Stephen Porges. This intervention utilizes music filtered at therapeutic frequencies to calm the nervous system and prime clients to be more receptive to the benefits of psychotherapy. SSP has been used to treat a variety of conditions ranging from inattention and focus issues to trauma and PTSD.  You can learn more about SSP and Polyvagal Theory here.
